Treating yourself to a bathtub caddy. These amazing contraptions will hold your wine, water, candle, book or tablet if you want to relax with some netflix or music.Dim the lights so that you can really relax.
The bright lights that we’re surrounded by with our laptops, smartphones and TV can really affect how well we sleep. The longer we can turn off our devices (I know, it’s hard) before bedtime, the better uninterrupted sleep we’ll have.
But I get it, sometimes you just need to watch Grey’s Anatomy in the bath and cry with a glass of wine. And that’s ok.

While you’re waiting for your Hot + Cold Gel Bead Mask to work it’s magic, meditating can help you really relax. If you haven’t tried meditating, the first few times can be difficult.
Here are some tips on meditation for beginners:
- Concentrate on your breathing or allow thoughts to drift in and out and to be aware of these thoughts but not dwell on them.
- Focus on three things you were grateful from that day or to think of a negative event in the past that has affected you and drive positive energy towards it.
- Put on some music or a meditation podcast that can guide you through the process.
- Make sure you are in a quiet area so you don't get disturbed!
This is your time to take a moment to decompress from the day so it will look different to each and every one of us.
Use Essential Oils
Essential oils can play an essential (Ha get it?!) part in helping to relax before bed time.
The best one for helping you relax is lavender. A few sniffs of this essential oil will leave you feeling ready for bed! There are a few different uses of essential oils. You can put it in a diffuser or sprinkle a few drops on your pillow. Always remember to dilute essential oils if you are going to use it on your hair or skin. You can do so by using a carrier oil or mixing it in with your moisturiser or shampoo. Carrier oils are vegetable oils and includes oils such as coconut, avocado, almond. Check your particular essential oil for diluting instructions!
There are a lot of essential oils and blends out there. Check out our Essential Oils collection.
Get more sleep
How many hours of sleep do you survive on a night? According to the Sleep Foundation, those between the ages of 18-65 need between 7-9 hours of sleep a night.
Do you get that amount?
We are working longer, commuting to work and living busy lives. It’s easy to push off your sleep and say you’ll catch up at the weekend. But if you’re sleeping 10 hours at the weekend but only sleeping 6 during the week, that’s not catching up! You need to be consistently getting enough sleep. Some are also saying that sleep is more important that exercise, especially when trying to lose any weight!
Turn on your phone to airplane mode for a much better sleep. This is definitely the most important step in the nightly routine. You do not want to be woken up at 3am from an incoming email, text, instagram notification right when you’re in a deep sleep. Don’t worry, your alarm still goes off on airplane mode (we checked) and trust us, you will sleep SO much better.
Have a listen to this podcast by Joe Rogan on the importance of sleep. It’s 2 hours long but well worth it!
